"Toys that you, the human, have to move are the most engaging for cats because they are ambush predators and love when toys move and try to run away from them," says Shani Campbell, certified feline training and behavior specialist. "Wand toys are the most effective toys to buy and provide the biggest bang for your buck,"
‘For instance, Campbell points out that cats don’t usually do their business in caves or enclosed areas. “Cats feel very vulnerable when eliminating, and they need to see possible threats coming from all angles,” she says. This is especially important when you have multiple cats.”
“Cats might poop beside their litter box to say something is wrong, says Shani Campbell, a certified feline training and behavior specialist at Wild at Heart Cats.”
'“Even the best shelters can be inherently stressful for cats, leading to a wide range of behaviors. Shy or withdrawn cats—those who may hide and avoid interaction in a shelter—often become the most affectionate and grateful companions once they’ve had time to settle into a stable and trusting environment.”
“Cats use swatting to set boundaries with other animals and humans and signal discomfort or a desire to stop an interaction, especially when their previous cues have been ignored,” Campbell says.”
“See cats as individuals and give them time and space. Please realize that if a cat is swatting, scratching, or biting that they are communicating to you. Those things don’t make a bad or mean cat; change what YOU are doing and read their non-verbal cues better. Cats need to be able to consent to touch. We cannot force it on them.”
